What the bible says about the pentecostal prosperity gospel

What the bible says about the Pentecostal prosperity gospel
In fact, nearly all the verses which talk about abundance and or riches to the believers are just taken out of context by the wealth and health gospel preachers. Many of these verses do not talk about material riches and abundance but the spiritual wealth. The Pentecostals never know that they are playing on a wrong ground by focusing on the worldly rather the heavenly.

When you look at the way money is stressed so hard in Pentecostals, you may need to ask no further why they are growing at a terrible speed. Thus many have found themselves trapped into Satanism for money sake. However the Bible says “for the love of money is the root of all evil which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows” 1 Timothy 6:10

These people forget that God is the creator, not the creature and He is not obligated to heal or prosper anyone, yet he graciously does (if he wishes), and neither is desired. We should not think for him or order him because he does according to this will.

Perhaps the root error of the wealth and health gospel is that it seeks to apply a theology of future glory to the believer in the here and now. But Jesus taught a theology of here and now that both sustains believers in hard times and holds out hope for tomorrow.

Though there are verses which talk about prosperity (not the prosperity Pentecostals preach) there are also other verses which say that the wicked will prosper while the righteous suffer. The evil man may live long life, suffer little and prosper much, while the righteous man may have a short life and be materially poor. This will only be reversed in the life to come.

Indeed, scripture demonstrates not only that the righteous will suffer despite their righteousness, but will often suffer precisely because of their righteousness “everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ will be persecuted” (2 Tim 3:12)

The wealth and prosperity gospel is not biblical at all, Jesus, the apostles and the disciples never preached it at all. This is a type of gospel which has great roots and links with Satanism.

I always see Pentecostal posters and stickers which promise prosperity and security, but I have never seen anyone written in reference to Matthew 10:16-20 “you will be betrayed, flogged and dragged into courts to be tried because of faith” or John 16:33 where Jesus warned “in this world you will find trouble”. It is just rare or even impossible to hear verses like “lift up you cross and follow me” the reason is very simple;

“In the last days…people will gather for themselves preachers who speak what they want to hear” Paul said.

Many people who want to hear prosperity, employment, riches, healing, miracles and finding partners, end up pilling for themselves the health and wealth preachers. However, as the health gospel tries to experience the full redemption of the body in this life, so the wealth gospel tries to experience heaven’s material rewards here and now.

In the book of Philippians, written from prison – not a plush office as many Pentecostals would wish, Paul said “ it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him” (1:29). He then depicted Christ as a suffering servant who never had any material riches in his life. (Phil 2)

Therefore, if the wealth gospel preachers say that poverty is a curse, then all the apostles and disciples are absolutely left out of those who will be in heaven. Paul had to build tents for a living and others were only feed by the fellow believers.

The Pentecostal preachers forget that the Bible talks about a tough life for Christians. In fact, none of them can read 2 Corinthians 11:23-29 which talks about Paul’s Christian life and suffering. The real problem is that these preachers also know that their followers want them to talk about power, anointing, wealth, and good health.

In many instances, these preachers quote half of the biblical verses, for example, when reading Romans 12:15 many of them are quick to read its first part “rejoice with those who rejoice” and ignore the last part of the verse “weep with those who weep” Rom 12:15

Therefore the gospel of prosperity to all is a gospel which is cooked in the brains of modern day preachers rather than God’s inspiration.
