As far as my daughter goes
I have an eighteen year old daughter that has taken being legally an adult to an all time high. She went out right away and got seven piercings on various parts of her body and then went back a month later for a huge tattoo on her shoulder. She moved in with her twenty year old boyfriend of three years, but the guy attacks her verbally on a daily basis. (Boy, she's showing me, isn't she?!?)Don't get me wrong. She has accomplished a lot too. Graduating high school, holding down a full time job, NOT getting pregnant, (this one seems like a given, but I was pregnant with her at sixteen,) and last but definately not least... is set up to start college in the fall.She has also got the attitude that now she is an adult and all the problems and personal accomplishments and such is not something she feels the need to tell me about anymore. This which really hurts my feelings. But, it makes me wonder if I was like that at eighteen. I know it seems like yesterday, but I can't remember for the life of me.I now understand what my mother meant when she said I would understand when I get older. At the time I just thought she was a nut and I already knew everything.I guess it's just a phase kids go through and she will eventually get over herself. With any luck it will be before she's thirty.
