My love for Sanborns is my eternal fight in the food industry. Foodies hate it and look down at Sanborn’s food but I personally love some dishes specially the molletes and . My grandma used to order Bisquets with strawberry jam and a chocolate milkshake, a lot of our family gatherings used to be here, my favorite merengue cake used to cost only $10 pesos and I saved money and ran away from home just to buy one and eat it by myself. Sanborn’s is engraved in our chilangos hearts, their unlimited coffee, their signature blue and white crockery, their waitresses with colorful skirts, their chicken soup and enchiladas suizas and their horrible yet kind of cool bar. Sanborn’s candy shop is legendary, they sell the most incredible array of magazines and their shop is unbelievable, my hobby is to come and find the most random object for sale, you can’t imagine how many stuff you’ll find, whenever I forget to buy a Christmas present I go to Sanborn’s. Sanborn’s is part of everybody’s childhoods, in this picture you can see the molletes, bread with butter grilled then they put some beans and cheese and bake them until grated. Add some pico de Gallo and you’ll have one of my favorite breakfast dishes ever. Tecolotes are basically the same but with chilaquiles on top. If you want to see what real life is in Mexico City, Pay a visit to Sanborn’s you’ll see family gatherings, old couples having coffee, students and groups of friends enjoying their food. And if you want to also eat at a historical place go to the Casa de los Azulejos branch at the historical center, sure is kind of like a Mexican Denny’s, but not everybody grew up eating fancy food. #mexicocity #mexico #mexicanfood #foodie #foodtour
