This is me dancing at La Merced market some years ago. I’m happy, I know what my purpose is and I love to host tours. I strongly believe that the spiritual component of my company is what makes Eat Like a Local unique and successful. I was in peace and I just knew in my heart what to do with the company, that’s exactly when I started all the social programs and the sustainable practices, that’s also when my radical justice approach made me stop working with restaurants that didn’t pay their suppliers or their employees and also started raising the vendors payments according to the job they do for the tours not only for their or gorditas. Being spiritually aligned is a key factor when you run a company that works with humans and humans dreams, because that’s what travel is about, fulfilling dreams and creating happy moments for both the hosts (street vendors, tour guides, chefs) and the guests. This pandemic has for sure tested my spirit, I’ve been crying a lot, searching in my heart a lot, angry a lot and also dreaming a lot. Sometimes when crisis like this happen, and you need to make a pause and reflect on your purpose you struggle, but I truly believe that this hard and tortuous time will lead me and all the team to create more meaningful ways to connect and impact our guests and our community. We will find ways to make real changes and improvements and to rebuild this company with an even deeper spiritual foundation. That’s the beauty of having free time, it gives you the chance to change and reflect. #pandemicdiaries Photo by @mattymish85
