Tonight I attended the an opening for Peter Cunningham at our local Art Gallery here on Grand Manan Island .(August 14-28, Dead Reckoning in A River of Change: Stories from Grand Manan Island, Grand Manan Gallery, New Brunswick, Canada )There was a great turnout and a huge selection of his art to view .
Peter Cunningham
Peter Cunningham has been a professional photographer based in New York City since 1973. He has worked with personalities such as Bruce Springsteen, Madonna and 6 year old readers, with concepts such as greed and and loss and God for his “Still Films,” and with documentation of subjects ranging from the death of commercial fishing to the history of Zen in the West.
Peter Cunningham was born 1947 in Cambridge, MA, son of a Cloud Physicist and a Math Teacher, he was raised in Lincoln, MA, and was a high jump champion. He left Wesleyan University where he studied anthropology in 1968 after 3 years to go on the road with singer Janis Ian. He then discovered photography. He spent much time as a youth in Grand Manan , New Brunswick. He has a summer home here as well.
