5. Jay-Z / Danger Mouse - 'The Gray Album' (If hip hop is lost on you, and you hate the Beatles - then this might not be for you. It is Jay-Z's Blueprint work superimposed over at landscape of remixings all drawn and sampled from The White Album by the Beatles. It is a sonic symphony of mayhem for the ears. I really dig this one). 4.Queensryche - 'Operation Mindcrime' (Yes my heavy metal grass roots are showing. Simply stated, this is a masterful work of studio engineering, and is one of my secret faves). 3.The Who - 'Quadrophenia' (I have always liked the tonal mode of this album. Musically it is hardly given the praises it deserves, but 'Tommy' will probably always overshadow it in music history. But personally Q is my favorite of the Who's work). 2. Pink Floyd - 'The Wall' (What Can I say, I am a sucker for the classics. Former memeber Syd Barrett inspired this requiem mass for RocknRoll. Too bad old Syd was in no shape to play in the band he helped create - I guess Waters and Gilmour are glad not to have to split lyric royalties three ways. Now which one is Pink?). 1.Current 93 - 'Thunder Perfect Mind' (Inspired by the Nag Hammadi and Dead Sea Scroll texts. This is something that everyone should give at least one a serious listen to before they die. It has musical merits to listeners of all genres, it has a cult following that cannot be denied, and it maybe the Sgt.Pepper of modern occultism - an esoteric masterpiece at the turning of the millenium).
