What is a video call?
When a simple phone call just won't do, make a video call. Whether you're shopping for a new outfit and need advice, video calling gets you talking... face to face! Video calling allows us to create special moments each time we make that magical connection. Unlike voice calls that can only share sound, with video calls you can talk to the other person and show them what's really happening. With a video call, you can share a special sunset with a loved one as it happens in real time.
It you're away from home, calling to tell your children how much you miss them will take on a whole new dimension when they can see your smile... and when you can see the twinkle in their eyes. Video calling is a lot like having a video chat on Skype or Microsoft Messenger, but without the need for a PC or the software. All you need is a 3G cellphone or smartphone that supports video calling, and 3G coverage. You must also make sure that the person you would like to call has the same, and that their network supports this service.
Making the call is really simple. Connect your handsfree if you're in a noisy or windy place (like on the beach). Now choose a contact from your phonebook, select the video call option (this varies from manufacturer to manufacturer), and hold the phone in front of you. Some cellphones like Nokia and Samsung 3G smartphones will allow you to set a different ringtone for incoming video calls.
That way, you'll know to check the mirror before you answer your cellphone. A special icon will also be displayed on your cellphone screen. But don't worry about receiving calls when you're in the bath or other potentially embarrassing places. Most 3G cellphones will not automatically send the video picture. When you answer, the screen will display the caller's picture, but not your own. Your photo will only be displayed if you allow the connection.
