SpaceX Falcon 9 launch aborted

Cape Canaveral, Florida (Sat, May 19) – SpaceX attempt to launch its Falcon 9 rocket carrying a reusable Dragon capsule to the International Space Station (ISS) has been aborted. For some unknown technical reasons; instead of blasting off from Cape Canaveral, the rocket remained on its launch pad amid a cloud of engine exhaust.

The countdown reached all the way to practically zero and the engine ignition sequence started Saturday, but there was an automatic shutdown by on-board computers, a NASA spokesperson said.

Initially, NASA reported that the launch was aborted because chamber pressure was high on the rocket's engine 5. The abort was initiated by a computer that noticed parameters beyond the specific limits.
