Watch out for BSL! You and Your Dog Could Be Next!
The current trend toward breed specific legislation has the potential to affect wide swaths of the dog population and their owners. It is the canine equivalent of racial profiling, and just as unfair.There are a number of states that are pushing for breed specific legislation to control dogs deemed "unsafe" by people who know little or nothing about dogs. The result is legislation that threatens just about any large, short-haired dog bearing even a vague resemblance to a pit bull. Think, Greyhound, Dalmation, Labrador Retriever, German Short Haired Pointer, and so on. Additionally, a number of other breeds are coming under fire. This is all very absurd!The fact is, there are already plenty of laws on the books to keep people safe from loose dogs. If they were enforced equally among all dogs and all dog owners, there would be no problem. There does not need to be a ban on any kind of dog.
