Easy Grilled Chicken Marinades

Ever since the discovery of fire dating back to 500,000 years ago, grilling was also discovered. The traditional form of grilling that is cooking over wood and fire was started a long time ago when man mastered the art of taming fire. By the time that man discovered cooking by grilling, man has long since used it for preparing meals for everyday living and survival. Grilling was even one of the only methods of cooking for a very long time before other methods were utilized.

Over time, various methods of cooking were invented. Thus, grilling was not considered a necessity anymore. It was more of an occasional or special type of cooking. When we think about grilling, we usually associate it with camping or picnics right? During the 1950s, more and more people started to explore and incorporate grilling back into their cooking. There was even a rage of living in the suburbs because when you live there, you get to have your own private backyard in which you can do some nice old grilling.

However, what really revolutionized grilling was because of a man by the name of George Stephen. Stephen was a metalworker from Chicago. He was known to be a man that loved tinkering with different objects. He felt that the grills that were sold were not good enough that was why when he inherited the Weber Metal Company, which operated to make harbor buoys, he realized that the buoys could actually be a component in order to make a much better grill.

What he did was that he took a buoy and cut it at the center. Then, he added a grate as well as vents. Lastly, the top half of the buoy was utilized as a lid. Voila! The Weber Grill was created. This grill became a very popular grill that it even became a household name. From this time on, outdoor cooking has never been the same again.

With the next few years that followed, the popularity of grilling shot up to the point that it became a cooking statement. Because of the dawn of grilling, more and more outdoor parties were hosted be it small family gatherings to major parties of celebrities. At that time and even up to now, it is an ultimate experience to be able to attend such parties. The popularity of grilling and barbecuing never ceased and, as a result, more variety of grills were invented depending on the style of cooking and flavor that one wishes to achieve.

Another notable man that greatly contributed to the world of grilling is George Foremen. Thanks to him, the idea and concept of cooking outdoors can now be done indoors. Living in the city, most people live in apartments or houses that do not have the luxury to own a backyard. At around the year 1990s, gas grill started to rise in popularity and started replacing the charcoal ones.

Cooking using the gas grills proved to be more convenient than the charcoal grills since the fire is easily started and regulated. Nevertheless, modern day grilling is a whole new level. As of today, the grilling equipment available is becoming fancier and more elaborate year after year. We now have smoking chambers, entire outdoor grill islands, and not to mention the famous and expensive rotisseries. These grills even have additional features and accessories like small refrigerators, warming chambers and even beer taps. Wow, the grill has now become an all in one entertainer!

However, the real question that you should ask is: why grill? Apart from the unique taste and texture that you get from grilling, it is also considered to be one of the healthiest methods of cooking and preparing food. How so? This is due to the fact that when you grill a certain food, it will ultimately result to a version that contains lesser fat content. Among my favorite foods to be cooked on the grill is chicken.

Grilling chicken is probably one of the healthiest sources of protein. Not only is it healthy, it is delicious as well! Just grill up chicken breasts and remember to remove the skin then pair it with some steamed veggies or green salads and you’re well balanced meal is ready to go. An important thing to note when grilling chicken is making sure that you grill the chicken just right. Meaning, the chicken should be cooked thoroughly. A tip would be using a meat thermometer. When the temperature shoots to 165 degrees Fahrenheit, that would signal that the chicken is cooked all the way through. Another method would be checking the drippings from the meat as it is cooking.

By the time that the juices are already clear, that would mean that the chicken is ready. The secret ingredient for avoiding dry and bland chicken breasts is to prepare a marinade. By doing this, your chicken breasts will surely be rich and flavorful. If you have your own personal taste biases, do not hesitate to experiment on the marinade that you will be preparing. Do not be afraid to go out of the box and try something all original. I will be sharing one of my own grilled chicken marinade recipes that you can freely try out if you wish. This is a staple rotisserie chicken marinade that I have been using since I learned how to use one. Enjoy!
