The infamous fishnet stockings, have been in the fashion world for as long as the early 1900s. In fact this edgy piece of clothing has an interesting story of origin. In a famous Aesop’s fable called “The peasant’s wise daughter” a witty woman adorned herself with nothing but a fishnet when challenged by the king “to come to him not clothed, not naked, not riding”, and that’s how the fishnet made a queen out of a peasant’s daughter. Ever since then the fishnet stockings have found its place in real women’s wardrobes as the fishnet stocking. Although the fishnet was a queen maker in the fable, with time the fishnet stalking came to be associated with prostitutes. Women used it as a weapon to accentuate their curves. They enticed men with the intriguing interplay of the “seen and unseen” visual effect it created on their sensual legs.
With time the world saw the rise of feminism. The women of the world rose from being mere objects of enchantment for men to being women of substance. So did thefishnet stockings.
