TERRORISM IN MAZATLAN?

As we all know, the United States has declared war on “terrorism.”  Terrorism is a subjective word and thus our war against it is subjective.  In other words, our enemy “Terrorism” and as  individuals, “Terrorists’,  is defined in the minds of those who control the fight against it. That would be the same people who control the US military.  The declaration of war against “Terrorism” by the United States is in the belief that the definition of a Terrorist is not subjective. It is the politicians  obligation to decide who is a terrorist and who is not a terrorist for the greater good.

But what frightens and terrorizes you might not do the same to your neighbor.  So is the act terrorism  or is the  person who is the alleged terrorist really a terrorist?  Is the  terror a terror to everyone?   Dictionary.com gives three examples of terrorism.

1. The use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, especially for political purposes.

2. The state of fear and submission produced by terrorism or terrorization.

3.  A terroristic method of governing or of resisting a government.  (a curious definition is it not?)

An important extension of the definition of Terrorism is the definition of a Terrorist.

  1. A person who terrorizes or frightens others. Period.

Is a Bully a terrorist?   Mr. Webster seems to think so.  Webster’s dictionary says a Bully is.” A person who teases, hurts, or threatens smaller or weaker persons .  It sounds pretty close to the definition of a Terrorist to me.  No?

That being said, this article is about two people who happen to live in Mexico and also happen to be Canadians.  They might be either Terrorists or bullies, or both.  We are all familiar with how bullies terrorize students in school, and in the work place but they exist everywhere and in all walks of life.  This article is about two Canadian bullies who live on a short dead end street next to a church in Mazatlan Mexico and rule this part of their small environment just as a bully or terrorist rules the environment in school or the work place or maybe the planet.

Mexico has decided not to declare war on Terrorism or terrorists like the United States did. They prefer to declare war on the Cartels and the banditos.  It is unclear if Canada has actually declared war on Terrorism but they participate in the United State’s war on terrorism. They explain this participation as an effort to  ”Defend Canada’s national interests and Ensure Canadian leadership in world affairs and Help Afghanistan rebuild.” Nothing in there about rebuilding Mexico. They obviously are not aware of their emissaries Geoff and Clare Simons in Mexico.

Canada’s willy nilly stance on terrorism allows these two people to rule their roost at will until someone actually takes a stand against them. ( Not likely.)  Their Kingdom is the street named Rio Bravo and they claim they own the street.  (I’m not sure that the City of Mazatlan would agree with them but that is a property ownership dispute not terrorism.)  However in the United States it might be both.

Read more about these two terrorists at this link.  Terror.

After visiting the link you might think the whole thing is trivial but it is an example of how Bullying or threatening other people empowers and the degree of terrorism is synonymous with the perception of power.  Unfortunately for the terrorists, they usually over estimate their perceived  power.
