Catch Up On The Classics With High Quality Free AudioBooks
OK, so this is kind of lame but here's something I really like to do since I love books. I found this website: LibriVox that is on a mission to put all books in the public domain into audiobook format using volunteer readers. I like to listen to audiobooks when I go to sleep at night, so I look around on LibriVox for good readers and listen to the books they read chapter by chapter.
Right now I'm listening to The Vicar of Wakefield.

This is a really enjoyable book read by volunteer reader, Martin Clifton, who has a lovely voice and a charming English accent. I find myself thinking about it and wondering what will happen next in between listening sessions!
Finding A Good Summary Helped Me Keep Up!
I download one or two chapters a day and listen on my Kindle as I go to sleep. For this reason, I often miss quite a bit of the story and have to listen to the same chapter a couple of times to make sure I don't miss anything.
There were some plot points that I wasn't sure of, so today I Googled questions about them and came up with this page on a website called Anglistika:
http://anglistika.webnode.cz/products/goldsmith-oliver-the-vicar-of-wakefield/
This is a nice, concise summary of the book that cleared up a couple of plot points for me. Upon exploring the rest of the website, I found that it is all in Czechoslovakian and translates very badly, but this page is a really good companion for the LibriVox recording of The Vicar of Wakefield!
High Quality Readers Make All The Difference!
So, if you enjoy free audiobooks, I strongly recommend LibriVox. I like it better than some of the other free audiobook sites I visited because the volunteer readers are really high quality and enjoyable to listen to. If you'd like to give the Vicar of Wakefield a try, be sure to check out this helpful summary. I'm sure that with just a little bit of searching I will be able to find good summaries for other offerings from LibriVox.
I'm glad to find the LibriVox website because it gives me an opportunity to become familiar with a lot of classics in a very comfortable, enjoyable way. I would be unlikely to devote the time or the money to purchasing and reading a lot of classic books. Indeed, many of the audiobooks to be found at LibriVox might be very hard to find in print form now.
Here's a page of very charming illustrations from the book:
