This is the only positive African-American romance book that I know of that talks about what life was like for those that were not part of the Harlem Renaissance, dealing with the struggles of racism, yet finding true love in the midst of insurmountable difficulties.  Available now for PC, Kindle, or any other eReader.  Sample the beginning of the book for free.
