Do modern day witch hunts still exist? You betcha, but not in the sense of the days of old, where if it was believed you were a witch you were tortured and killed rather quickly. No, today’s witch hunts do a little more damage. No only to the psyche, to the family and finally to the wallet. What is a Witch Hunt?  Well to put it bluntly if someone doesn’t like you or what you represent; you are tormented, tried, convicted and punished without a jury of your peers, just on the word of a ‘higher authority’.To what end? We still aren’t sure. Maybe after a little history we can figure it out together.Let’s start with the background:3 or so decades ago a young man was born to a young mother, the mother and father did not marry at that time, they would later. In order to help the young mother the child was helped being reared by the woman’s family. Grandma, Grandpa, Great-Grandma, Aunts and Uncles helped raise this child and he knew love. Love from all around. With this love he felt the need, no the drive to share his love with the world. It began with animals. At a very early age he began his life of rescuing animals bringing home hurt or injured animals to help heal them, then release. Word began to spread of his exploits first with neighbors, then others. He started getting phone calls to take animals that were injured, no longer wanted even those that were abused. It was no surprise to his Aunts and Uncles when he borrow their cars to find that he had managed to cart home various animals in the tight squeeze of the back seats. Imagine the looks on the faces of those seeing a goat climbing out of the back seat! As his love for animals grew, the family who supported his work also became involved with these efforts. He managed to get funding through a larger organization who was impressed with his zeal. His reputation grew, not only State wide but people in various other states became known to him. He got a website, posting pictures of the animals that once healed came up for adoption. People would travel many miles and hours to adopt one or more of the creatures he rescued.His home eventually turned into a farm. With dogs, cats, chickens (yes people abuse chickens), geese, goats, horses, mules, miniature horses and any other animal one can imagine resides on this farm until they are brought back to health and a home can be found for them. At times there were so many of one particular animal that his family and friends were recruited to ‘foster’ them. He would schedule various adopt-a-thons throughout the year so the general public could come view, pet and hopefully adopt a new family member. One day he got a call. This one wasn’t about animals, it was about children. Since he had married a lovely woman who also supported his desires, they didn’t think twice about opening their home to 5 children who were taken away from their mother. There aren’t many Foster homes who will take an entire family, and it was his desire to see these kids stay together. He was expecting his 1st child, with another soon to follow.This first year he had these children would be the first Christmas they had ever seen. The oldest being 8 and the youngest just under 2. The joy on the children’s faces were enough for him to get the proper paperwork going in order for him to adopt these children on a permanent basis. He had a good life, plenty of room and felt they would only benefit from being part of his family.With the success of his fostering animals and now his new children he wanted to spread his love a little further. He knew of young people that had no homes to go to. They had been bounced around from foster home to foster home, institutions, never quite knowing what a true family was all about. He knew love as a child and wanted them to feel loved as well.He bought a piece of land and put a home on it, within the same area as his farm. These were young men, he gave them jobs working on the farm, to help with earning money and give them a sense of well being. He hired people to help with them, had a committee set up to work with their case workers and therapists. The premise behind this was not a institution but more of a home life. All of them believed that all children went to foster care. They had never known what a ’normal’ life was.The man bought another home across the street from his current home and yet more down the road. He had planned on making more homes for the unwanted children of the world. If their own parents didn’t want them, by golly he did! He wanted to help them grow and become successful people within the world.All but one of these children had been physically, mentally and sexually abused by the ones who provided them with life. When being institutionalized people, particularly children learn things. They learn what to do to get attention, to get their way and most definitely how to get what they want.  This is where the current tale begins: One of the boys assaulted another of the boys.  In the ensuing melee another boy took off.  As you can imagine with almost grown young men, the head butting similar to young bulls in a pen happens.  It can take several people in the situation to calm things.  Several people went in search of the ‘run away’.  He was returned that evening by a State Police officer.  When it was requested that the police officer take away the one who did the assaulting, it was refused.  The one who did the assaulting became angry, the one who was returned to the home became angry.  Neither one wanted to be there any more.  Together they concocted a story, the story was as follows.  They decided together to accuse the man, the Director of this home, of sexual abuse.  It was easy, they didn’t have to give too many details, it was believed.  After all they were under the care of this man, therefore he was responsible for their welfare.  After being in the system for as many years as they have they knew which buttons to push, who to speak to, how to be believed.  Keep in mind the history of the boys/young men, abused, mentally, physically, sexually and lastly institutionalized. Both boys have a history of making accusations such as these. It can be found within their records. One would think that this would be discovered and that would be the end of it. There is absolutely not one shred of evidence that such a thing happened. The stories of both boys keep changing, neither one of them are able to tell the same story twice.What has happened to the man?He had to leave his home, his family. He is unable to have contact with his children or his pregnant wife. She is currently pregnant with his 3rd child. His family members are now being contacted saying that they cannot house him. His own mother is unable to house him, if she does then she cannot see her Grand children. One of his Aunts opened her home so he and his wife could meet and talk. She was confronted and told they could no longer meet there. Luckily for her, her home is entirely hers and has nothing to do with the organization. She has told the authorities that her home is open to her nephew and they cannot do a thing about it. She doesn’t have small children for them to worry about. At this point she can and will allow them to visit anytime they wish.His children have no idea what has happened. His son has begun to wet his pants and have nightmares. His adopted children had a father, now they don’t. Because the boys/young men work at the farm, the children aren’t allowed to play outside when they are working. His wife is constantly on the verge of losing this baby. He has been informed that he cannot use his regular Attorney, he must now hire another one at great expense. He has begun selling his horses to help pay for legal expenses, which of course he cannot get their value. Each day a new barrier is erected to prevent him from defending himself.Granted you do not know this man, I do. I believe with all of my being that he is innocent of these accusations. To know his purpose in life is to help others, his caring and compassion for things that some abuse, all he wants to do is help others. He isn’t even angry that he was accused by these boys, he knows what their purpose was, they were trying to get what they wanted. He is just upset that the investigation is not unveiling these things.What is the purpose? We aren’t entirely sure, but we believe that the State wants to shut the home down. They don’t have much control of the happenings within the home. This is the only possible answer to the reason for pursuing such a case. No proof of abuse, verification of prior false accusations, yet no arrests have been made.So to answer the first question, yes witch hunts do exist in modern day times. The abuse of power that the State will use to achieve their desires is still ongoing today. At any time anyone can be accused, it is no longer about what they can prove, but what you can prove did not happen.  Addendum - Rather than just submit this as is, I did a little more research on the subject of CPS, discovering exactly what it is they want and what their motive is. I have 'cause to believe', those 3 little words, 'cause to believe' can turn your world into a nightmare beyond comprehension.   Before we delve deeper into those 3 little words, let me say first that I am an advocate to the nth degree for the well-being and welfare of children.  Having read my other articles on this subject one will know that I am a firm believer in ’children first’.  I believe that anyone who harms a child should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.  Children are our future and should be protected.  Herein lies the crux of the matter, what of those who are falsely accused?  How can someone be falsely accused you may ask?  There HAS to be some merit to the accusations, correct?  We have in place a justice system to protect the innocent, or so we believe.  In the case of child abuse it becomes a matter of proving oneself innocent rather than the State proving your guilt.'Cause to believe' are all the words that are needed to remove a child from it's home, it's parents and turn their world into a nightmare.  There does not have to be any sort of proof whatsoever.  Now steps in vindictiveness.  Say for instance there is someone with whom you are having an argument, you just don't get along.  All that has to be done is a phone call to CPS with an accusation of child abuse.  The CPS worker who happens to work for the State, which happens to be funded by the Federal Government, is called, he/she takes a quick peek into your home and it is decided that he/she has 'cause to believe' that there is child abuse happening.  The next thing you know your child is yanked out of your home and placed into Foster Care.  The claim is that it is for the welfare of the child, you know you did no wrong, you have confidence the child will soon be returned to your loving arms.  What is gained from this?  Money - Plain and simple the almighty dollar.  The Federal Government is paying the States to police it's own, by giving it full reign to the well being of children, in it's attempt to protect them (by our outrages) they have created a many armed monster.  First the CPS themselves, by taking a child from a home they receive between $3000 and $5000 PER MONTH per child.  Even if a child is gone from the home for just a couple of days they still receive the full months pay.  The Foster Home receives pay for taking in the child.  Sometimes the child becomes harmed within the foster care and is moved yet another time.  Each time the child is moved or re-homed, the State receives between $3000 and $5000 per child.The Foster Homes are required to have a bed and dresser for the child, a 9' x 10' bedroom could comfortably house 4 children provided there are bunk beds.  They must all be of the same sex in 1 room.  Each Foster home is paid approx $1500 per child per month by the State to house the children.  As you can imagine with the State receiving that kind of money per child, Foster homes are not looked at too closely.  Why?  Because if there is an incident the child will be re-homed and the State will receive yet another $3000 - 5000.  It is no longer about the welfare of the children, it has become big business for the State.  How did this happen?  We did it.  In our zeal to protect our children we allowed our States to take over our lives with giving them little more than 'cause to believe'.   Who is next on their list?
