I am a dialysis nurse, who is working in a private unit here in my country. It has been almost 3 years since I started my post graduate experience as a registered nurse. This unit has been my first institution to work with. So, it mean something to me. But aside from it, its the people that I encounter throughout those years are important, my colleagues and most especially the patients. I admit that my job as a dialysis nurse was not that so hard compared to those who are assigned in other areas. However, meeting and dealing with patients that has terminal renal failures could sometimes be hard because some of them are still not able to cope with their condition and we nurses have to attend to their needs. Speaking of needs, one of the most crucial factor that most of the patients need is financial support. Here in the unit that I am working most of the patients are less fortunate and having a hard time complying with the number of treatments needed in a week. Ideally, patients should have 3 treatments per week but because of no money or low financial support they get at least 1 treatment per week. For them, getting that treatment is a struggle or challenge. They have to find ways in order for them to have the money so they could have their dialysis treatment. Not only that there are also medicines that they should maintain. We belong in a third world country, so health care system here does not support everyone's health needs.
I am writing this blog because I can feel their hardships and sacrifices just to keep alive. I really do sympathize them. And with that, I would like to help them in my own ways. So, I think this is one way of helping them in their financial needs. And let others know that someone out there needs your help. Please support this campaign. And share it to others.
