block the block

1:52 AMthere is a knock at door. *knock*  normally, when there is no cold ground, i would quickly get up and answer my bedroom knocker.  tonight however, the covers do an excellent job of keeping my walking fingers warm.  the knock comes again. *knock*  by now i've realized that my door abuser would not go away.  i look for a hoodie--the one that makes me look like the kid from e.t.--and i open the door...and standing there on my front porch was expression.  "hello" the indescribable image said to me, "i am expression."  i must be dreaming, i said to myself, but this was no dream.  i was standing toe-to-toe with expression.  since i should be sleeping, i'll get right to the point.  block the block is not a remix for the apollo 440--yes i had to look that up--stop the rock song.  instead, block the block is a quick list on how to help alleviate expression block.  i use the term expression block because of my duel hesitation to use the word writer combined with the assumption that all blocks are writing blocks.  lets pretend that i was a sculptor, for example, and i had the material i wanted to sculpt with.  i had the chisel, the sounds of a recent operetta, and a copy of time magazine--what i assume all sculptors must carry--and i can't seem to sculpt the ideal image i want to present.  i could say i have sculptors block, but that would plays too close on the pun of sculptors using blocks for their sculptures.  i don't know how exactly this plays on the pun, but i am pretty sure that it does.   but no, we all may go through expression block from time to time, and i want to provide a quick list on how to alleviate the inevitable part of expressing yourself.  i don't say stop the block because i don't think stopping the block is possible.  i think the block is part of the process of expression.  so step 1 of alleviating expression block is:1.  accept that you are blocked for the moment.  some moments last longer than others, but moments do pass.
2.  procrastinate as much as you possibly can without removing yourself completely from your anticipating canvas.
3.  remember that you can not force a thought down, but appreciate that a thought can force you down.
4.  remember that you can force a feeling down, but appreciate that a feeling will get right back up and retaliate.
5.  sometimes the block is there for a specific reason.  search out that reason and you may have a whole new expression to share.
6.  your expression wants to live outside from you.  expressions are wild and crave adventure.  with this in mind, know that you can block the block.before i move on to the seventh part of our list i want to talk about what block the block means.  block the block means you can position a new block to outweigh the previous block.  if you are writing a paper on the formal elements of a poem, for example, and you can't seem to pinpoint what elements the poet is using, try to block that block with a distraction.  in other words, feed your block with something that tricks the block in thinking you demand more out of your brain.  in the example of the paper on the formal elements of a paper, for example, try feeding the block of finding a formal element with a block of writing your own poem.  this may sound like a stretch, but creating your own poem and interpreting a poem make a big difference in the paper you write.  now, the original block is too distracted with blocking your ability to find the formal elements of the poem you are trying to interpret; and guess what, you are almost free of the block...7.  almost free of the block means the block will always be right on the edge.  accept that eventually each block you encounter must either be forgotten or defeated.   and lastly, no matter what anybody says, the block is part of your expression.  the block is actually a good thing.  if you didn't have blocks then you would produce expressions too quickly.  don't get me wrong, the frustration of not being able to get a thought or feeling down is down right discouraging, but the depreciation of value you put in your own expression is much more disastrous to the life you wish to express.  have you ever met an artist who lost touch with their own expressions?  trust me, this is not a sight you want to see; let alone see in your own mirror. do not fret my fellow expression blocked junkies.  if you ever get to the point where nothing seems to work, maybe this next site will at least help you pass the time.  i've made like four beats already and i can tell that all four of my attempts sound like something you may hear in a shop that sells gag gifts.  but guess what...i would go into that store and buy my poor attempt of a beat.  and that's enough to get me through the restless nights of my guilty conscience of murdering these poor orbs.enjoy the site:  http://www.dyspxl.com/play/orbsuntil next time redgage.
