Here are ten places to visit whilst in the city.

Alcázar

One of three UNESCO World Heritage sites in Seville, the Alcázar is the oldest royal palace that is still in use in Europe, with the upper section used by the Royal family. Trips can be made by members of the public and its stunning interior and gardens with Moorish influence are undoubtedly worth the entrance fee. 

Heladería La Fiorentina

If you want to taste Seville then grab a scoop or three at this infamous ice cream establishment, with standout flavours that include rosemary and custard apple. A one-scoop cone is €2.20 and small tub costs just €3.00.

La Mar de Flores

If you are a lover of plants then this florist-cum-garden centre is a great place to spend an afternoon picking up a present of just taking in the sights and smells.

Seville Cathedral

Another of the city’s World Heritage sites, dating back to the 15th century, it is the largest gothic cathedral in the world and the third-largest church in the world. Trips are regularly made, but visit early to avoid the crowds. 

Blanco Cerrillo

On trips to Spain everyone always searches for the stereotypical tapas bar, well this is it. One of the oldest in Seville, Blanco Cerrillo serves tapas at just €1.50 a plate. Perfect for locals, tourists and language students from the many schools in the area, such as Clic. 

General Archive of the Indies

Yet another UNESCO World Heritage site, this Spanish Renaissance building houses many documents and artefacts to do with the history of the Spanish Empire. 

La Huerta Mediterranea 

Travelling out of your comfort zone is often tricky for vegetarians. This tapas bar is not just ideal for those looking to steer clear of “hidden surprises”, but it is also delicious and extremely good value.  

Real Betis and Sevilla FC

Seville is home to two teams who play in the top league of Spanish professional football - Real Betis and Sevilla FC. Catching a game by either of these sides is always going to be good, but look out for the El DerbiSevillano, in which Sevilla currently hold a 45% win ratio over Betis’s 31%.

CalleBetis in Triana

This area of town offers the best nightlife in the city, awash with locals, holiday-makers and many non-natives who are studying Spanish at a language school in Seville. There are bars for every taste and the party gets going at around midnight, so be careful not to peak too early.
