Understanding Fine Arts
When it is not just the functional value for which an art form is practiced, instead it is practiced to bring out its aesthetic value, it should considered to be a work of fine arts. Its roots lie in painting, printing and sculpting, which is basically design based work. However, it is not just restricted design based activities there are other non-design based activities such as photography and architecture that are also considered within the genre of fine arts.
It is actually quite difficult to properly define the category of fine arts. The reason behind this is that new subjects are constantly being added to this category due to the advancement of technology or artistic invention. The latest subjects that have been incorporated are acrylic painting, silkscreen painting and giclee painting. With regards to invention collage, photomontage and decollage have been included into the fine arts.
