Don’t Feel Sorry for Us Because We Walk
Each time the kids and I walk to the store, there are people who feel sorry for us and offer us rides. There also are people who give us odd stares from their cars. We walk pretty much everywhere unless it’s too far, so this happens quite often. We walk to the park, the grocery store, the dollar store (every kids favorite place), whatever’s close that we want or need to go to.
I am sure those offering the rides are nice people. However, by some of the looks we get I assume some may be thinking we are at a disadvantage when we walk. Our family does have a vehicle. In fact, we have two. So why are we walking? We do it for exercise and would you believe we even do it for fun?
Besides the enjoyment of the walking itself, there is lots of great scenery to enjoy along the way. Then, there’s the sounds of nature – birds, wind whispering through trees, the chatter of squirrels, crickets, etc. There’s also nothing like the smell of fresh air. However, with all the car pollution, I suppose that smell may soon not be so fresh anymore. But we are enjoying it while we can. So, if you happen to see us walking, we appreciate your kindness, but please don’t feel sorry for us.
Trust me, we are perfectly fine walking. It’s good for us and Mother Earth. We heard her cry. Did you?
