Things to Keep in Mind While Organizing Fire Drills

Connecticut is in the Northeast of United States and offers tourists an excellent journey. The capital city Hartford and the largest city Bridgeport are both attractive locations for tourists. The fun of paying a visit to Connecticut, however, will remain incomplete, if you don’t explore the following places;

Mystic Aquarium & Institution For Exploration

If you have a thing for marine lives, then do pay a visit to Mystic Aquarium. The aquarium houses different varieties of ocean lives. Dolphins and penguins have become all too common, Mystic Aquarium surprises visitors with beluga whales, sea lions, blue tongued skinks, leopard sharks, blue tang, unicorn fish, sea turtles, clownfish and many other exotic aquatic animals.

Alongside such an amazing collection of ocean mammals, the institute also XD motion theater to offer us a glimpse of the deep blue sea in 3D. It also offers interactive sessions with the animal. Technology and ocean combined, the place treats tourists.

 Mashantucket Pequot Museum

Apart from being a museum, it is also a research center. The most interesting thing about it is the entire complex is owned by tribes. The museum preserves many cultural resources of the native American people and the history of Southern New England. You’ll find a number of artifacts in the museum; such artifacts are interactive software, films on how Mashantucket Pequot tribe evolved, text panels and many more. The Pequot village along with its exoticness and a thousand years old glacial relics are all there in the museum.

Weir Farm National Historic Site

The place doesn’t mummify history the same a museum would do, but it includes many historically important buildings such as the studio and the home of the 19th century impressionist painter J. Alden Weir. An exhibition of Weir’s most celebrated paintings could heighten the amazement of the visitors. There’s a visitor center, which stores many collections of Weir. If you have a thing for art, then you are bound to enjoy the site.

Roseland Cottage

It’s not a run of the mill cottage, situated in 1846, Roseland Cottage is a summer house in Woodstock that was built following the Gothic Revival style. The cottage is also known as The Pink House. The history of this place is quite fascinating; in the 19th century, the place was used for the entertainment of the guests. The mighty US presidents of different era were some of the guests at this cottage. To freshen up the visitors, the cottage has gardens, an outhouse with a bowling alley and an icehouse; a;; for the guests.

Gillette Castle State Park

The stone castle is open from 10 am to 4.30 pm. From the outside, it is just another castle, but if you go inside, you’d find artistic decorations carved in wood and table trackway. The area has long been a point of interest for the geologists. They visit there to study Hebron formation. Various minerals like diopside, quartz, plagioclase, and biotite are available here.

The castle has an interesting history; it was designed by William Hooker Gillette, who was a celebrated actor, director and playwright. Gillette was personally involved in the construction of the castle; the woodwork inside the castle evidences his signature style; the doors are all different from each other and each single one of them has an external latch, elegantly chiseled out of wood.

Wadsworth Atheneum

It’s not simply a museum of art, it stands as a major cultural and civic institution in Connecticut. Some of the stupendous collections of the museum are the landscapes of the Hudson River School, Pilgrim Century visual arts, Old Master paintings, American furniture, a large collection of American and French impressionist paintings, costumes and textiles, etc. Primarily a hotspot for art lovers, the museum’s collection is appreciated by ordinary tourists as well.

Lake Compunce

It’s an amusement park and so, a must visit if you are traveling with kids. The park has so many amusements in its offering. The latest one is a 2015 special offer called Dino Expedition. The whole expedition is a safe and fun-filled adventure with tad bit of excitement. Artificial dinosaurs that look real will generate a feeling of awe in the minds of the tourists and they’ll enjoy that feeling in the backdrop of a dig area full of open-air fossil. Other than amusement, the park also has many educational resources.

The tourist attractions in Connecticut are in no way restricted to the ones, discussed above. However, the above ones are super entertaining and tourists enjoy them to the fullest, which is why, we’ve picked them.
