Dogs are the human best friend, that is what many people feel and they always choose dog as their pet. The dog’s hair looks beautiful on them but when the dog’s hair starts falling then we get worried about the dogs. It is always important to take care of the dog’s health and give them healthy food. The hair growths in dogs happen in three phases. First phase is it grows very long and grows as much as it can grow and this growth is rapid and fast. Next phase is when the hair growth is less compared to the first phase which means the growth is there but it will not grow long. And the last phase is one in which the growth stops completely. After the growth stops completely then the hair starts to shed. It actually does not start shedding suddenly but the dogs shed right from the beginning but you cannot know that because in the initial two stages there was some growth and where the hair was falling new hair was coming but in the last stage the there is no new hair coming, you feel like hair shedding.

Hair loss and hair shedding are not different aspect. When hair shedding occurs, then you get a new hair it that place but when hair loss occurs then you cannot see any new hair coming in the place of the old hair. And this hair loss happens when the dog is suffering from some sickness.
Melatonin for treating hair loss:
To treat this hair loss in dogs’ melatonin is used. Melatonin for dogs is very safe and helps to cure insomnia and anxiety also. Whenever the dogs are feeling too much of restlessness and unable to get proper sleep then this medicine is used to get them out of these problems. If the Melatonin levels in the blood of the dog is coming down then the hair loss occurs. So it is important to take care of the melatonin level in the blood of dog and this can be done by giving Melatonin dose to the dog when it starts shedding lots of hair.

Consulting the vet also can help you know the exact reason for the hair loses or hair shedding. It may always not be because of the melatonin levels going low in the blood; it can sometimes be because of the other bacterial and viral infections in dogs or because of the thyroid in the dogs. So for this you will have to use the suitable medicine and not Melatonin. So diagnose the reason for hair loses or hair shedding before you starts giving your dog’s melatonin medicine. The dosage should always be as per the vet suggestion only. Never give any over dose without the administration of the vet.
